Noted on Emarketer, a market research company, its First Insight data report released in April said that 70% of medium to high-income U.S. earners (earning $150,000 or more) have tried and/or are attracted to dupes. The quality of duped products has also improved; thus, the appeal of buying a dupe over the real product, especially in the wellness, lifestyle, fashion, home décor and tech categories, has become more tempting to consumers. Premium products are now seen as a wasteful purchase as more people prefer value over status symbols.
