Telecompetitor Mentions First Insight | AI Will Play A Larger Role In Holiday Shopping This Year: Report

First Insight, a company that works to help artificial intelligence (AI) aid retail sales, released a report claiming that 57% of holiday shoppers plan to use social media, 39% plan to use AI tools to aid their shopping, 42% plan to check out directly through social media, and 68% use purchase directly through AI.

The firm’s “2025 Holiday Shopping Report” found that 73% of Gen Z shoppers plan to use AI for their entire shopping experience.

“This holiday season marks the moment AI truly enters the shopping aisle,” First Insight CEO Greg Petro said in a press release about the report.

“Consumers aren’t just using it to search — they’re buying through it. At the same time, they’re more cautious about spending, focusing on price, value and convenience. Retailers that listen to their customers and adapt quickly to these new buying behaviors will be the ones building loyalty that lasts long after the holidays.”

Other key points from the AI shopping report:

  • Shopping behavior is driven by price and convenience both in-store and online.
  • Consumers worry packages will not arrive on time and will pay more to ensure they do.
  • Gift cards are an option to stay within budget.
  • Consumers are purchasing more apparel and personal care items.
  • Facebook and TikTok are the top social platforms used to discover and shop for gifts.
  • Big-box retailers remain the preferred stores for in-person holiday shopping.

Part of the continued and growing centrality of AI and social media as retail powerhouses is that they no longer only are for the technically inclined.
