FBN: Are consumers turning more to private label because they save money, or has perceived higher quality become a bigger draw?

Davies: It’s definitely a mix. There’s a study that just came out from a company called First Insight showing 84% of consumers believe in the quality of store brands and find them equal to, or better than, national brands, and once they try the store brands, they definitely switch. Obviously, some consumers will do it because of price. It depends on the outlet.
